About This Beach

Isla de Ratones, also called Cayo Ratones or Isla Piñero, is a tiny cay just off Joyuda (about ¼ mile offshore). Accessible only by boat or water taxi, it’s a favorite for day‑trippers who want a quick island escape. Despite its size, it offers calm, shallow waters, shaded picnic areas, and snorkeling opportunities. The island has undergone ecological restoration, with mangrove replanting and artificial reefs to protect its shoreline and marine life.
